The first book I'm reviewing is Steamy Gender Bender Scenes, an anthology put together by BJ Slippy. The goal with this project was to skip the introduction and cut straight to the "good stuff." Unfortunately, though, despite its title, the scenes are not steamy and they contain minimal gender-bender content. Sex scenes are a much bigger focus than transformation-description, which could work, but unfortunately, with no set-up, this means that the stories are mostly typical, uninspired, man/woman sex scenes with a few sentences explaining that the female character used to be male. I prefer female/female gender change stories, which is just a personal preference but also contributed to my dislike of this ebook. I'll be honest, I was so bored that I couldn't finish it. The one unqualified good thing I can say about the book is that it's free.
The book describes itself as horror, but fortunately, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It manages to interweave weight gain and eroticism with a kind of satire of many horror movie tropes, and succeeds both in providing good weight gain description and in being funny and entertaining.
I've hit an important ebook milestone recently. When I first started doing ebooks, I wasn't sure how they'd turn out, if people would enjoy reading them, or even how they ought to be different than my regular work posted here. Over the past year and a half, I've published 20 ebooks, and in June I had my best month ever. I'm able to write transformation stories full time, and that's in large part because of the success of my ebooks. I feel immensely grateful to all of my fans.
I believe my ebooks have become better with time, as I've started employing artists and professional cover designers for my projects, and the books have become longer and more detailed. Almost all of my ebooks are now at least 7,000 words long, most of them longer, and a few more than double that length. I don't believe length is the only measure of quality, but I gave it some thought, and it doesn't really make sense for my very short ebooks to be on the same price tier. So two of my earliest ebooks, Donut Surprise and Claus and Effect have been permanently discounted to 99 cents. If you like Weight and Age Progression, respectively, you may want to check them out.
