It's a "yuri," as well as a great male to female gender change transformation story about a boy who, through a freak accident, finds himself suddenly a girl. Everyone - his parents, his best friends, his teachers - react in different and surprising ways. There's a great "love triangle" between the main character and his (her?) friends. I found myself talking to the screen, and even calling other people to let them know the twists of the show.
There's a great scene where, in a flashback, the main character as a small child is playing with his best friend.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" she asks him.
"I want you be your bride," he replies.
"Boys can't be brides," she corrects him. "You mean you want to be my groom." But, of course, circumstances do change for this little boy later on...
Of course, after he transforms, he tells her "now I can be your bride." It was the kind of scene made me think about myself as a little kid. Very, very touching.
I haven't finished watching the whole series yet, but it's easily the best anime I've seen since Attack on Titan, which is another show with some great TF elements. In that case, it's giant/giantess transformation, something I haven't explored yet on my website but would like to do in the future.
Watching this much anime has put me in the mood for one day creating my own manga. I'm no artist, so I'll have to partner with someone who has that set of talents. But I think it would be great to have a comic that was transformation focused.
Let me know if any of you have any good anime suggestions, especially if they are transformation related. Or Yuri related.
