I saw "Adore" because of the amazing preview above. It didn't scream "transformation" per se, but the concept of "son-swapping" seemed to be rife with the potential for role reversal and all sorts of unconventional relationships and taboos. While there might not be physical transformations, I felt like there was the potential for some very satisfying mental and relationship transformations.
The film is well acted, and shot beautifully, but it barely scratches the surface in terms of the taboo factor. Without giving away too much of the plot, the film's relationships are fairly low-key. Graphic sexuality is kept to a minimum, and the weirdness factor seems almost extinguished. It's a shame because I feel like there was a great opportunity to do something truly different and that didn't really happen.
