Friends Forever
Chapter 1:
As Megan unpacked her things and started to settle into her new dorm, she felt a sense of discomfort. Wanda, her best friend, was supposed to be there - but ever since she had come back from her summer trip to Europe, their friendship had cooled. Wanda had left for Europe as a thin, popular, conservative minded girl - much like Megan. She had returned with a radically altered worldview and very different physique. Megan shuttered just to contemplate it. They had been so close, and it was all snatched away so quickly.
Now Megan had to have two total strangers as her dorm-mates - a fellow freshman named Lizzy and a sophomore named Shelly.
Megan inspected herself in the bathroom mirror one more time before anyone else showed up. It was important to make a good first impression, and looks-wise, she felt she had it made. Perfect diamond cheekbones, platinum blonde hair, and a slender, toned body stared back at her in the mirror. Megan scrubbed her face with special soap and sponge every day and prided herself on never having a single pore or follicle out of place. A fastidious clean freak, she was never comfortable out of control. Megan blew herself a little kiss before she heard the sound of keys turning in the door.
“I’m Shelly, nice to meet you,” her new roommate said in a squeaky, nasal sounding voice. Shelley was chubby, with short, reddish-brown hair that hung against her face limply and big, thick black glasses. She was wearing a T shirt that said “Geeky is the new sexy,” and had a sweatshirt tied around her plump waist.
“Hi, I’m Megan,” she replied, hoping her other roommate would look a little more like her. She didn’t have to wait too long for Lizzy to show up.
To Megan’s surprise, Lizzy was even heavier than than Shelly. Her dark, oily hair hang down in tresses in front of her face, and her doughy body was nearly pouring out of her undersized tank top.
“Cool T-Shirt,” she said in a loud, somewhat husky voice to Shelly.
“Thanks,” Shelly squeaked. “I have a feeling we are going to be best friends.”
Megan walked over to her bunk and put her head in her hands, sighing.
“How did we even get assigned these rooms?” Megan complained as she stared at her two heavyset, nerdy looking roommates. “I mean, we aren’t from similar parts of the country, we aren’t the same year, and we aren’t similar in other ways.”
“We are all chemistry majors,” Shelly squeaked. “That’s why we are in Einstienium hall.
“That’s cool,” Lizzy said. “Kinda makes me think of this T shirt I saw. It had a picture of the element of Thorium, and the element had a beard and a hammer. Like Thor. Get it?”
Shelly burst into gales of high pitched, nerdy laughter. “Wow, that is totally my taste. You have to show me where I can order that,” she said as she pulled out her laptop. “While I’m online, can I add you both on Facebook?”
“Sure,” Megan said defeatedly as she pulled out her phone.
“Hey, I just found out something else we have in common. We were all cheerleaders in high school!” Shelly exclaimed.
“Wait, what?” Megan asked. “Flag girl squad, maybe. But cheerleaders?”
“If you don’t believe us, take a look,” Lizzy said, pointing to Shelly’s computer. Megan leaned over the screen, and saw old photos of Lizzy. She was nearly unrecognizable! Far thinner and with a much better fashion sense. Next, she pulled up Lizzy’s photos. She was so beautiful and slender, it was almost impossible to believe she was the same woman.
Just like Wanda, Megan thought to herself. What was going on? Why were so many cheerleaders letting themselves go to pot? Would the same thing happen to her?
Chapter 2:
One month into her studies, Megan was already struggling with her chemistry courses. In each of her classes, Lizzy’s hand would fly up whenever a professor asked a question. When called on, Lizzy would provide a rambling spiel that usually contained the right answer, and occasionally some profound insight. On more than one occasion, Megan noticed the teacher taking notes on what Lizzy was saying. Megan, on the other hand, was almost always silent. Though she had excelled at her science classes in high school, she felt as though the instructors here were speaking a foreign language.
Megan’s courses weren’t the only thing in her life providing her with frustration. In addition to mind-bendingly difficult homework, she had even struggled finding a date. Despite comfortably outclassing her peers in the looks department, she could barely find a guy to make eye contact with her. Shelly had a boyfriend, Tom, who was as nerdy as she was and who frequently came by the dorm to watch Star Trek reruns. Lizzy didn’t have a boyfriend, but Megan had witnessed a couple of hunky guys asking her out after class. Despite her slovenly appearance and plump body, she was getting attention from cute guys, and that made Megan seethe.
“Why’d you say no thanks?” Megan when after she turned down yet another suitor after class.
“He’s not really my type,” Lizzy said. “Besides, he was so confident and forward.”
“Yeah - it’s called charm,” Megan said, feeling jealous at the attention.
“Well, you may call it that, but it came off just a little arrogant and pushy. I prefer a shy type of guy, maybe a little nervous about making the first move, you know?” Lizzy opined.
“I guess,” Megan said. “I don’t get what I’m doing wrong.”
“Well, you don’t study with Shelly. She took a lot of these courses last year, and after a rough first semester, she really turned it around. She’s been a big help to me. Why don’t you join us?” Lizzy asked.
“Well...” Megan began, her voice trailing off. She had been avoiding her roommates like the plague for the past month, feeling scared that somehow their nerdiness and rotundity would rub off on her. “I do need to maintain a good GPA to keep my scholarship,” she admitted at last.
Over the next few nights, she stayed up late with Lizzy and Shelly studying. Lizzy would often keep talking about the different applications of chemical equations ad nauseum, which made it difficult to concentrate, but she felt like she understood the subject a little more than before. Often, the girls would stay up late, and Megan had trouble waking up early. Some days, she’d barely have time to get her clothes on before class, and wouldn’t have any time to slather on makeup or tease her hair. Lizzy and Shelly noticed their roommates disheveled appearance, but didn’t say anything.
Chapter 3:
Megan furiously clicked the refresh button on her brower, hoping her mid term results were up.
“I’m sure you did just fine,” Lizzy said, looking over Megan’s shoulder. “You’ve been working really hard lately.”
“What did you get?” Megan asked Lizzy, who was in the class with her.
“An A-” Lizzy replied nonchalantly.
“Damn, if you couldn’t nail it, I’m screwed,” Megan said. “Oh, look, they’re up!” she exclaimed as her screen flashed.
“Oh no,” Megan said. “I got a C+,” she moaned.
“What’s wrong? That’s an improvement from how you were doing before,” Lizy replied.
“I know, but I need to keep up a 3.0 average to keep my scholarship. A C+ doesn’t cut it,” Megan said with a sigh.
“We are going to have to try even harder, in that case,” Lizzy said with encouragement.
“What more can I do? I’ve already spent hours studying. I just don’t get like you two do. I’m not a natural,” she wailed, tearing up.
“Well you know, neither am I,” Lizzy said. “I was always good at science, but I realized why I suddenly became a savant in my senior after some...research,” she said. “I could see what I could do to help out.”
“Oh, I’ll do anything at this point, thanks so much,” Megan said.
“Hang on, let me go see if I can scare up some...stuff,” she said with some hesitation, and then waddled out of the dorm. A few moments later, Shelly arrived, with her boyfriend Tom.
“What’s wrong, Megan?” Shelly asked upon seeing her roommate’s tear soaked face.
“I could lose my scholarship if I don’t get my grades up. I’ve worked so hard with you and Shelly, and I could still come up just short,” Megan said.
“And I was having the hardest time last year until my boyfriend intervened,” Shelly explained. “Changed my life.”
“Yeah,” Tom said, nodding. “I learned that wishes alter the structure of reality.”
“Wishes?” Megan asked, incredulously.
“Yep, as crazy as it sounds. I mean, I’m as scientifically grounded as they come, so I was probably more surprised than you are now,” Tom said, making gestures excitedly as he talked. “I mean, it’s really a game changer.”
“All wishes?” Megan asked.
“Well, not exactly,” Tom explained. “There are many laws to the universe, and law 3 states that most situations will invariably result in WG, so...”
“WG? What’s that?” Megan asked.
“Let’s not give her too much information at once,” Shelly said. “Wouldn’t want to scare her.”
“Of course,” Tom concurred. “The point is that wishing works,” he said with a slight lisp.
“You can’t be serious - you want me to just magically wish my troubles away?” Megan asked.
“What have you got to lose?” Shelly asked with a squeak.
“I suppose. I wish I was the kind of woman who didn’t have any of my problems,” Megan said, without giving it much thought.
Chapter 4:
The next day, Lizzy made sure to find Megan in the cafeteria. As usual, Megan was sitting alone - she had experienced some difficulty in making friends. Few other girls seemed to look or act like her, as if there was no popular clique for her to naturally fall in with. While Megan was up at the salad bar, Lizzy made sure to spike her diet soda with a special chemical cocktail.
At the end of the day, Lizzy and Shelly encouraged a depressed looking Megan to go shopping with them.
“Come on, its Friday - junk food and sci-fi night,” Shelly squeaked.
“It’s really not my thing,” Megan said.
“But you have to help us pick out snacks,” Lizzy countered. “I was there, all you had for lunch was salad and a diet soda. You must be starving.”
As if to answer, Megan’s stomach audibly growled. “I suppose,” she conceded at last.
“Yay!” Shelly cheered. “It’s going to be fun, just trust us,” she said as the called Tom and invited him to meet them at the store.
At the store, Megan started to feel increasingly ravenous. Lizzy picked out a box of Twinkies, saying that she had heard they were being discontinued. Shelly got a couple of frozen pizzas. At first, Megan mildly pointed out a few snacks that she thought could make good additions to their shopping trip. “I suppose a jar of peanut butter might come in handy,” she mused quietly. “Let’s get one with peanut butter or honey swirls,” she helpfully added. As the four of them walked further into the store, her tone started to shift. Soon she was demanding each item with exuberance. “We need chips, we’ve got to have at least three bags!” she shouted as they passed that section. “And mixed nuts - we can’t forget them!” As they neared the cash register, Megan abandoned all pretence of discussion and just started grabbing items off of the shelf and tossing them into the cart. At the register, she grabbed entire boxes of candy bars and heaped them on top of the mountain of snacks.
“I’ve got this,” Tom said as the girls nervously eyed the large bill for the food. “There’s nothing I like better than making sure you’re all well fed,” he said with a wink.
When the four of them arrived back at the dorm, they hooked up the Xbox and decided to watch streaming episodes of Dr Who, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and the X Files. At first, Megan sat back on the sofa and tried to avoid the fattening snacks. Soon, though, she was unable to resist. She carefully unwrapped a single Snickers bar before taking a couple of cautious nibbles.
It was like heaven. No salad could or would ever taste this good, and Megan knew it. She was still worried about gaining weight, but sitting next to two other women her age gorging themselves noisily on food she had picked out was rapidly eroding what little willpower she had left. Soon she was violently ripping open bags of chips, causing a few stray shards to fly everywhere, and then stuffing her face, barely bothering to chew. When her mouth was stuffed with chips, she opened another candy bar, and slowly forced it into her mouth past her plump lips. Somehow, her cheeks distended enough to fit it all.
The more Megan ate, the hungrier she became. Soon she tried to invent new food combinations to sate her appetite. She smeared her pizza with chocolate swirled peanut butter, then poured a copious amount of caramel syrup on top of that, and stuffed the calorie bomb into her mouth in one heroic bite. Peanut butter was smeared and her lips and cheeks, while a thin line of caramel now descended from her neck to her exposed cleavage.
“I’m so full,” Megan said at last, her words slightly slurred.
“I bet you can’t remember the last time you were full, with all your dieting,” Lizzy commented.
“I guess you’re right,” Megan said. “It does feel good.”
“I hope you have room for more,” Shelly said. “I’m going to make milkshakes for dessert.” She walked over to the kitchen and brought out her industrial sized blender. In went blueberries, bananas, ice cream, half and half, whole milk yogurt, raw organic honey, granola, and whey powder. When activated, the blender seemed to groan with the heavy load before it started to churn in earnest. When the concoction was finished, Shelly topped it off with a some whip cream and a few maraschino cherries. She poured a small glass for Tom, two mid-sized helpings for herself and shelly, and filled the biggest glass she had to the brim for Megan.
“Go on, enjoy,” Shelly said. “My own recipe.”
“It’s quite delicious,” Tom said as he sipped his drink gingerly. “Filling, but good.”
“Filling? I’m already stuffed,” Megan protested.
“Come on, you can’t hurt Shelly’s fillings,” Lizzy said as she picked up Megan’s cup and lifted it to the thin girl’s lips. “Drink up.”
Before Megan could protest, the liquid was pouring into her lips. It was so sweet that she couldn’t resist swallowing. Shelly was already helping unbutton her skinny jeans, giving her overstuffed tummy room to poof out. Lizzy was stroking Megan’s hair as she poured more and more milkshake down her throat. “Good girl,” Lizzy cooed as she finished. Tom, sitting on the chair next to the sofa, was grinning ear to ear and taking pictures with his cell phone.
“Your tummy is all cold now,” Shelly helpfully pointed out, as she gave Megan’s taught belly a little pat.
“Um, thanks,” Megan said sheepishly. “I feel so embarrassed,” she said wiped whipped cream off of her chin. “I’ve never gorged like this.”
“You should do it more often, it’s good for you.” Lizzy said encouragingly.
“Good for me?” Megan asked incredulously. “I’ll get fat if I keep this up.”
“Like us?” Shelly asked innocently.
“Well, no offense or anything, but, you know...” Megan’s voice trailed off.
“No, I really don’t know,” Shelly replied.
“Well, I mean...it’s just...I want guys to think I’m attractive, that’s all,” Megan said defensively.
“I think Shelly is very attractive,” Tom said. “Maybe you’d get more attention you were less skinny.”
Megan loudly sighed. “The world doesn’t make sense anymore,” she said. “I’m tired, I want to go to bed.”
“Always good to sleep on a full stomach,” Tom helpfully pointed out. Megan climbed into her bunk and was out like a light, forgetting to brush her teeth.
“You’ll never guess what I did,” Shelly and Lizzy both said to each other simultaneously after Megan was sound asleep.
“I got Megan to make a wish!” Shelly exclaimed.
“I spiked her diet soda with a DNA cocktail!” Lizzy proclaimed with a giggle and a snort.
“Both at once? She doesn’t know what she’s in for,” Shelly excitedly squealed.
Chapter 5:
“Uh, what did I do last night?” Megan said as she woke up late the next morning. “Did I even do any studying or just eat and watch TV?”
“There are other ways to acclimate your mind to learning than studying,” Lizzy pointed out. “For example, did you know many of the technologies on ‘Star Trek’ have either been created in real life or the feasibility of doing so has been researched in a scientific setting?”
“No,” Megan said. “Ugh, I feel so bloated,” she said as she pulled herself out of bed.
“Can we see?” Shelly asked excitedly as Megan walked towards the bathroom, yawning.
“Oh, all right,” Megan replied defeatedly, thinking a good shaming might encourage her to lay off of the junk food.
When she reached the mirror, though, Megan felt shocked. A disheveled girl with matted hair, no makeup, slight bags under her eyes and food stains on her clothes was staring back at her. Her cheeks looked puffier than she remembered and her arms looked a tad softer.
“Wow, nice,” Shelly said. “Not as fast as me, but you’re growing nicely.”
“Nicely?” Megan asked in horror. “I don’t know how this is even possible. You can’t gain weight just from one binge night. I probably haven’t even digested all that food yet.”
“See?” Lizzy said as she joined her roommates in front of the bathroom mirror. “You’re already thinking scientifically. And look how pleasantly you’re growing.”
“Pleasant? I have to start dieting ASAP,” Megan protested.
“Take off your pajama top,’” Lizzy prodded. “It’s just us girls, let’s take a look.”
Megan reluctantly complied, and pulled off her stained blouse. Her breasts looked softer and larger, and were straining against her bra. Megan’s shoulders looked a little rounder and her upper arms were just slightly thicker. Her stomach was still puffy from her night of gorging, and little love handles were forming on her sides.
“Wow, you’re looking great,” Lizzy exclaimed.
“Looking great? I’m getting fat,” Megan complained, feeling increasingly distressed. “Why do you too act like it’s a good thing?”
“Why are you so upset about it?” Lizzy countered.
“Well...guys don’t like fat girls,” Megan replied defensively.
“Ahem, I have a boyfriend,” Shelly said with pride. “When was the last time you were even asked out?”
“I...can’t remember,” Megan said, her mind feeling cloudy. “Anyway, it’s more than just that, I’ve always been proud of maintaining my figure. It’s a matter of discipline,” Megan replied.
“Look, we know how you feel, we were both cheerleaders too, remember?” Lizzy asked.
“I know it might be hard for you to accept, but try. I believe you’re entering a new and positive phase of your life,” Shelly mused with a squeak.
“A fat phrase?” Megan groaned. “No way, girls, I’m hitting the gym today.”
~
Later, on the treadmill, Megan felt as though her arms and legs were on fire. She wasn’t sure if her muscle tone had evaporated last night or if each muscle simply had more to lift, but her old physical endurance seemed shattered. She hadn’t even been there a half hour before she was drenched with sweat and gasping for air. When she changed back into her regular clothes in the locker room, she changed next to an exceedingly thin girl - perhaps even a couple of pounds skinnier than Megan herself had been at the start of the term. She felt an initial burst of jealousy at the woman’s slighter frame, but didn’t want to let those feelings rule her.
“I’m Megan,” she said.
“I’m Sonya, hi,” the blonde, thin co-ed replied.
“Weird question I know - but how have things gone for you socially here? Meet any guys?” Megan asked, wondering if this girl’s experience was anything like her own.
“No, not really,” Sonya replied. “Lot of cuties, but they don’t seem to be going for me. I have a roommate actually that gets more attention, surprisingly.”
“Oh?” Megan asked. “What’s her secret?”
“Not sure, but I’m surprised because she’s...well...let’s just say that she looks a little more like you than like me,” Sonya said after eyeing Megan’s slightly doughy body.
Megan’s ears burned. “What do you think is going on?”
“I’m not sure, but I’m not going to just let my figure got. Some of us have our pride,” Sonya said.
“Yeah, we do,” Megan replied, feeling more confident. “Do you want to hang out sometime? My roommates are also kinda a few rungs below me on the social ladder, if you get my drift.”
Sonya looked at Megan again. She saw a disheveled, sweaty, girl without a hint of makeup and an extra 15 pounds slathered over what she surprised was once a very beautiful figure. Her cheeks were flushed, her hair was frizzy and matted, and her chest bore the red, ropelike marks of an ill-fitting bra cutting into her flesh.
“I think we might have that same gap between us, sweetie,” she said as she condescendingly patted Megan’s head. “See ya.”
As Sonya walked away, Megan punched the side of the locker and quietly wept.
Chapter 6:
Throughout the next two weeks, Megan worked out every day, and cut her calories down to the lowest levels she could. She was eating so little she felt tired and disoriented all the time, and even fell asleep in class during more than one occasion.
Fourteen days later, she had only lost a couple of pounds. She was still clearly heavier than she had been earlier this year, and she felt exhausted.
“Want to grab burgers with us?” Shelly asked Megan after class on Friday. Megan was laying on her pillow in her bunk bed, her eyes half open, her mouth slightly hanging open.
“What?” Megan asked, trying to rouse herself.
“Come get burgers with us, Megan,” Lizzy said. “You’ll feel better.”
“I can’t, I’ve got to keep my diet up,” Megan said. “Don’t tempt me.”
“You’ve worked hard for two weeks on that, you’ve earned a break, now come on,” Lizzy demanded.
“Oh, all right,” Megan conceded at last. “When you are hungry and on a diet, you’ve only got one good ‘no’ in you.”
What Megan hadn’t counted on was that they were headed to Blubber Burger - the restaurant with the tallest and biggest burgers in town. Furthermore, tonight there was a burger eating contest - however ate the most got their food for free. At first she refused to participate, but after a couple of beers, she became downright eager to chow down.
The burgers were stacked high with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, cheese, all in several layers. Megan could barely get her mouth around a single bite, but she dug in with the relish of a starving woman. She wolfed down as many baskets of fries as she could, too. Her mouth was soon smeared with ketchup, mustard, and burger juices. A few errant crumbs made their way on to her tank top shirt and budding cleavage.
Lizzy and Shelly gave Megan a good run, but in the end, the thinner girl triumphed.
On the way back, Megan suggested that they stop at the grocery store to get some ice cream. Lizzy and Shelly were surprised, but they complied without saying a thing. Megan picked out several big tubs, and some chocolate syrup to go with it.
Back at the dorm, Shelly and Lizzy watched their formerly thin roommate attack the ice cream with reckless abandon. Not even bothering to get out a dish, she ate the frozen treat directly from the carton. Megan paused only to suck the chocolate syrup from the container like a baby drinking milk from a bottle.
She finished her binge with a loud belch, then covered her mouth, feeling embarrassed.
“Don’t worry, we do it all the time,” Lizzy said.
“I know,” Megan replied, the thought making her feel even worse.
“Wanna stay up and watch some sci-fi?” Shelly offered.
“Sure,” Megan said with a shrug, feeling too defeated to fight it. With a heavy feeling in her belly, she flopped down on the couch.
“You know, the Warp Drive in Star Trek isn’t totally unfeasible,” Lizzy said. “There’s this Mexican physicist that worked out the real-life equations for it back in the 90s.”
“Yeah, and when they augmented his equations recently to create a more efficient warp bubble, it has to be shaped like a doughnut!” Shelly hooted excitedly. “Who would have thunk it?”
“Speaking of doughnuts, do we have any?” Megan found herself asking, in spite of herself. Lizzy found a plastic package, and Megan nibbled on it absentmindedly until she fell asleep in front of the TV.
Lizzy and Shelly were still awake, and they examined their sleeping roommate with eager curiosity. Her hair was a sloppy mess, matted with sweat, grease, and just a hint of chocolate syrup. Her tank top was stained with the various foodstuffs she had poured down her gullet during her binge, and it was clearly out of its league in containing Megan’s growing body. Her breasts had swelled, practically bulging out of her top and creating an eye-popping, almost obscene amount of cleavage, and her growing shoulders stretched the shirt, making the bands of fabric resemble spaghetti straps.
The top was also failing at its job south of her engorged breasts, showing off a huge section of her overstuffed belly. Lizzy couldn’t resist giving it a little squeeze. Megan grunted a little in her sleep but did not awaken.
“Wow, soft,” Lizzy said. “Like it’s already started converting from food to fat.” She turned to her friend. “She’s nearly a fat as you now, Shelly.”
“I’m amazed it took her this long. She’s really been fighting it hard, though, with all that working out. She feels so ashamed of herself,” Shelly replied.
“Well, I doubt that will last forever,” Lizzy said.
Chapter 7:
“What did I do last night?” Megan lamented as she struggled to pull herself off of the couch. “Ugh, I pigged out again, didn’t I? I pigged out and fell asleep in front of the TV. I didn’t even bother brushing my teeth or exfoliating my face, or taking a shower...” Megan trailed off as she stared down at her bloated midsection and prominent breasts.
“Time for you to go shopping for new clothes,” Shelly said.
“You mean, time to get ‘fat clothes?’ Never!” Megan exclaimed. “I can still beat this.”
“Face it, Megan. You aren’t going to become a size zero again by Monday morning. You have two options - you can buy ‘fat clothes,’ as you call them, or you can go to class looking like you do now,” Lizzy said matter of factly.
“Alright, fine,” Megan said with a long sigh. She felt her will to resist melting away. How could she keep up her discipline if every time she fell off the wagon, she’d gain so much weight overnight?
Megan sat the the backseat of the car with a glum expression on her face. Lizzy was playing “Weird Al” and loudly singing along to the lyrics of “White and Nerdy,” while Shelly was texting with Tom and squeaking excitedly whenever he’d text back. At the start of the year, she could hardly imagine falling this far. Megan didn’t even want to associate with her new roommates, and now she was going shopping with them on the weekend. She had no other friends, no boyfriend, and while her grades had improved slightly, they were nowhere near where she needed them to be.
“Cheer up,” Lizzy said as they pulled into the parking lot. “Look at today as the first day of the rest of your life.”
“And I thought things couldn’t get any better,” Megan replied sarcastically.
“We’ll take you to Lane Butterworth’s, that’s the best store for girls like us,” Shelly said. Megan cringed, not sure if she was more upset by the reference to the plus size clothing store or the phrase ‘girls like us.’
The three girls walked through the mall, and Megan felt her heart sink lower as they walked past her favorite clothing stores without pausing. She caught her reflection in the mirror. She was just another chubby girl, and one without makeup or a decent hairdo to boot.
“And what are we looking for today?” the vivacious, smiling saleswoman asked after they finally found Lane Butterworth’s. Larger even than Lizzy, she was wearing squiggly pink wire glasses and an orange shaggy sweater that tightly hugged her large frame.
“Oh, I don’t know,” Megan said gloomily after a long hesitation. “Something big and baggy, so I can hide my shape, I guess.”
The saleswoman looked puzzled. “Why would you want to do that? You look lovely.”
“Huh?” Megan asked. “Look, you don’t have to be polite just to sell me. I know I need to lose some weight.”
“Nonsense, you’re a lovely girl. We don’t need to cover you up, you just need to get some clothes that fit and accentuate your frame,” she added helpfully.
Megan looked confusedly from the grinning sales lady to her two roommates. Shelly was wearing a baggy T shirt with a science pun and green jeans, while Lizzy wore a sack dress that hung limply on her body.
“But you two don’t...” Megan began.
“We know you’re really into fashion, so we thought you could get into it. Besides, its our treat. So go wild, girl. enjoy yourself,” Lizzy said with a wink.
Megan spent the next hour squeezing into various outfits, all of which seemed to accentuate her growing curves. One white top seemed to push out her belly so much that she looked pregnant. Still, she received accolades on her looks from her roommates and the sales lady. Finally, she threw up her hands and agreed on a few items, and wore a new outfit out of the store. Her old clothes were in her shopping bag, and she doubted she’d ever wear them again.
“Let’s stop by the video game store, that’s where Tom said he was going to meet us,” Shelly said.
“Let’s pick up a new first person shooter, I read that they’re good for the brain,” Lizzy suggested.
“Really?” Megan wondered out loud as they entered the store.
“Looks like someone beat us to the punch,” Shelly said as she saw Tom holding up a copy of ‘Black Ops 2.’ They took the game home, and the three of them eagerly sat down on the sofa to start playing.
“Join us,” Tom invited Megan. “The Xbox has four controllers, after all.”
“Nah...” Megan said, though she was curious.
“Come on, what else do you have going on?” Shelly said. “Join us.”
“Ok,” Megan said finally, and in spite of herself she was having a great time. It felt great to vent her frustrations in the digital world, and though she got off to a rocky start, she seemed to pick the game up very quickly. “This is kinda fun,” she reluctantly conceded. “For something nerdy,” she added hastily.
“In the mood for something non-nerdy later?” Tom asked. “We can go to the college football game if you’d like. I know the quarterback, he’s...an old friend of mine.”
“Sure,” Megan said. “What’s better than going to the game with your friends?” she added as she looked around the room and smiled.
Chapter 8:
The home team triumphed easily, amid loud cheers from the fans in the bleachers. Megan and the gang stayed behind after to congratulate the players.
Alan, the star quarterback, gave Tom a big bear hug, and then headed out to where the cheerleaders were, to meet up with his girlfriend, he said. Tom and Shelly headed out to catch a movie. The rest of the players, though, seemed far more interested in staying and talking with two girls. Megan caught a few of the guys eyeing her up and down, and Lizzy had her hands full as well. She slapped the butt of one of the taller players, and when he turned around, Lizzy tried to jump and give him a smooch. His fellow players cheered and hooted as they briefly kissed.
Megan got the phone number of a hunky linebacker, and in the car ride back, couldn’t believe it.
“This is the most attention I’ve had all year,” Megan said incredulously. “And I look so heavy in these clothes.”
“So?” Lizzy said. “The guys thought you were sexy.”
“But...why?” Megan asked.
“Because you are. You look great,” Lizzy said.
“I guess I do,” Megan said, feeling herself accept it for the first time.
“Football players are fun, I wouldn’t say no to that date,” Lizzy said. “But personally I think Shelly’s got the real deal. She’s got a man with a heart of gold, you know? And a real brain. I’d take brains over brawn any day.”
“I suppose,” Megan said, not sure how she felt. “Let’s stop at the store before we get home, I’m hungry.”
That night Megan binged on junk food with reckless abandon, and without a shred of guilt. The chain in her mind between shame and her new habits and strained and finally snapped. When she went on her date with the linebacker a week later, she could barely fit into her plus sized clothes.
“Wow, he said as he greeted her at the door. “Have you gained weight since I saw you last?”
“Yeah,” she said with a sly grin, while batting her eyelashes.
“Looks good on you,” he said, licking his lips, and they were off.
Megan’s parents were happy to hear that she had a date with a football player, but she felt sure they’d be giving her trouble about her weight when she saw them over Christmas break. She was surprised to find them diplomatic on the issue. It simply wasn’t mentioned, as though she had always been at her present weight. They did mention that they were pleased her grades were finally starting to pick up.
Christmas, of course, was hardly diet season. A great many meals consisted of egg nog, pudding, and Christmas cookies. Gone were Megan’s ladylike grace, reticence, and sense of manners. Now, she wolfed down food with her both her hands, spraying crumbs everywhere. The tips of her Christmas sweater became strained with egg nog. When she finished a particularly large feast, she wouldn’t bother going upstairs to bed. She’d just flop on the sofa and fall asleep, her big dome of a belly sticking out for all to see.
Megan still showered - when her skin started to feel itchy - but she had given up all her other habits. Her skincare regimen was abandoned, causing her skin to get more reddish and greasy looking in places. Her hair, which once was styled and coifed perfectly, now fell down her shoulders in a wild, untamed mane.
When she returned to school, her roommates were not surprised to see her fatter than when she had left. She was now heavier than Shelly and close to giving Lizzy a run for her money. Her flabby body seemed to jiggle as she walked. Her massive breasts flopped and swayed rapidly - even with a proper bra, they could not be held back. Her face was greasy and puffy looking, and her Christmas sweater couldn’t contain her belly, spilling over her lap in a generous, pulpy looking muffintop. Her thighs were starting to rub together, and her bubble butt had widened into a massive, sagging sphere.
“What are you girls up to?” Megan asked. “I missed you so much,” she said.
“It’s like you are a whole new person,” Shelly said.
“I feel different,” Megan admitted.
“Maybe you should have a new name to go with it,” Lizzy suggested. “Megan could be shortened to Meg,” she offered.
“Like ‘Family Guy,’” Shelly added with a squeal.
“Maybe,” Megan said, thinking about it.
“What about Peg?” Shelly suggested. “That’s a derivation.”
“Or Peggy,” Lizzy said.
“Sounds like Piggy!” Megan said, smiling. “I like it, that’ll be my new name,” Peggy added as she twirled her hair in her fingers. “Video game marathon, anyone?”
Later, she received a text from her football player boyfriend. She agree to see him, and he kept insisting she looked sexier than ever, but Peggy bored. He couldn’t keep up an intellectual conversation and seemed to know nothing of her hobbies and interests. The next time she saw Tom, she asked him if he had any single friends. He gave her a knowing smile, and said he had a few.
Abe, Tom’s friend, looked very much like him. He was short and bespectacled, and he was quite the nerd. When Peggy met him later at a pizza parlor, she knew he was something special and planned to see him again later.
Chapter 9:
“I can’t believe I was so rude and uptight earlier this year,” Peggy said as she studied with her roommates a few weeks later.
“It’s ok, we don’t hold it against you,” Shelly said.
“We knew you’d change,” Lizzy added, and she and Shelly exchanged knowing looks.
“Yeah, but you don’t know how bad I was. I didn’t even want to be your friends,” Peggy said. “You know, I had a best friend and we split up over something like this. I think I want to set things right with her.” She texted Wanda and set up a time to meet at Blubber Burger the next day.
As large as Peggy and grown, she couldn’t hold a candle to Wanda. Her friend, former cheerleader, was a hairy, jiggly, mass, complete with bad teeth and scary tattoos.
“You’re grown,” Wanda said as she eyed her former friend up and down.
“Wanda, I wanted to say I’m so sorry for what I did last year,” Peggy gushed. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”
“Water under the bridge, Megan,” Wanda said. “Now come here and give me a hug.”
“I’m going by Peggy now,” she said as she became enveloped in Wanda’s fleshy, flabby embrace.
“It’s not so bad, being heavy, is it?” Wanda said after they ordered several large burgers.
“No,” Peggy concurred. “I’m feeling good about myself.”
“That’s good,” Wanda said. “But do you think your journey is over?” she asked cryptically.
“I suppose not,” Peggy replied. “I mean, I have no way of really knowing.”
“I think you could use even more of a change,” Wanda said. “You’ve come this far and everything has worked out, why not just go on to the next level?”
“How?” Peggy asked, still confused.
“Well, why don’t we make your burger a cheeseburger?” Wanda asked. “I’ve got some special cheese here, imported from Italy. Why don’t I give you some?”
“Ok,” Peggy said, opening up her burger as her former best friend sprinkled a few chunks of some pungent smelling diary onto her burger.
“Go ahead, eat up,” Wanda said encouragingly. Peggy hesitated. A few months ago, she would rather jump in a frozen pond than eat anything recommended by Wanda. She didn’t even want to say her friend’s name. Yet now, she felt a sense of trust. She felt drawn to following Wanda’s suggestion, wherever it might lead. Peggy picked up the burger and bit down. The salty cheese tickled her tongue and provided a surge of pleasure.
“That’s the best thing I’ve ever eaten,” Peggy exclaimed as she continued to relish the burger, eating at as fast a pace as her jaws could manage.
With each bite, Peggy began to change. Her mammoth breasts grew out further still, sagging down past her belly and nearly to her hips. Her upper arms and shoulders grew increasingly meaty and flabby, and her back grew much wider. Her big belly swelled, straining against the table. It hung forward as one massive curve, supported by several rolls near its top and bottom, and copious love handles on the sides. Her butt grew so much, she felt herself rise a couple of inches off her chair, and her legs swelled into big logs of fat. Peggy’s eyes narrowed as her face became fatter. Giant chipmunk cheeks crowded out her facial features, and several chins sprouted, only to later merge into one vast glob of fat under her wide, strong jaw. Her hair grew longer too, reaching the floor in a messy, tangled, dirty river of twisted brown.
Peggy’s hands and feet swelled too. Her shoes squeezed uncomfortably at her toes and her hands and wrists became flabby and clammy. Hair began to sprout from her underarms, growing surprisingly long. Her legs and feet grew some too - dark, thick, coarse hair. Her pubic hair grew too. Megan used to shave it but now Peggy was contending with a forest of hair so thick and long it would puff out of a swimsuit. Even her swollen niples saw a couple of hairs sprout up.
“Wow,” she said as she finished, licking her fingers and belching loudly. “This stuff is amazing.”
“I thought so,” Wanda said. “You look great,” she said with a warm smile.
“Can I have a bit more of that cheese?” Peggy asked. Her self control completely gone, Peggy wanted nothing more than to enjoy herself. The judgements she used to fear so much had been obliterated from her mind.
“Sure,” Wanda replied as she broke off another hunk. Peggy chewed on it, and her nose swelled, becoming more porcine. Her teeth yellowed and widened, wearing down but becoming perfect for grinding copious amounts of food. The soft peach fuzz of her upper arms seemed to darken and curl a bit. Freckles and stretch marks now dotted her body, as did a few pimples and red patches. Her body swelled yet again, causing the bench to audibly strain under the heavy load as her features became ever more flabby and wide. When she rose, her entire body seemed to shake violently.
“I want another piece. A large piece” Peggy demanded. “Not for me, but for someone I know.”
Chapter 10:
When Peggy returned to her apartment, her two roommates dropped their jaws. Thanks to the large amount of cheese, she had grown not only bigger than Peggy, but even bigger than Wanda. She barely fit through the door, the hinges straining as she forced her blubbery body through.
“Next time you might need butter to grease it,” she said, her voice sounding louder and deeper than before. “Speaking of butter, do we have any? I’d love to munch on a stick.”
“What happened?” Shelly asked.
“I can’t believe it,” Lizzy added.
“You girls want to see something? Come to the gym with me tomorrow,” she said. “You’ll really see a show.”
“Work out? No thanks,” Shelly said. “I like to keep up my curves for Tom and working out might make me thinner.”
“No, not to work out,” Peggy said. “To watch. You’ll see. Hide with me in the locker room. It’ll be great.”
The next day, the three girls waited in the locker room for hours. Finally, the target showed up - Sonya. When she was done with her workout, Peggy approached her near the showers.
“How are things?” Peggy asked her one time acquaintance.
“Excuse me?” Sonya asked, not recognizing her.
“You’re still thin as a rail, I see,” Peggy said. “I’m sure you’re fitting in great here, huh? Lots of friends, great boyfriend, straight As?”
“Not really...” Sonya said. “But unlike some, I’ve kept my pride.”
“How tragic. You need an intervention. Come with me to Blubber Burger, I’ll help you,” Peggy said.
Sonya turned her head away in disgust. “No thanks. I’m just going to have my diet yogurt.” She opened the communal fridge and picked out the yogurt with her name scrawled on it, not noticing that the lid had been opened. She grabbed a plastic spoon, and dug in. The flavor was salty and far tastier than she had anticipated, and she started to shovel it down.
As she did, her body exploded. In a few seconds, years of exercise were washed away. Her washboard tummy was buried in an ocean of fat, and then covered with a furry happy trail. Her hot pants split down the middle as her hips widened and her legs became covered in cellulite. Sonya’s belly grew so much it formed an apron, covering her genitals and part of her upper thighs. Her breasts grew large, heavy, long, and saggy, and her nipples grew larger and larger. Hair erupted from her underarms and her face grew spongy and round.
Lizzy and Shelly oohed and ahhed, and finally applauded when the change was done. Sonya finally looked down and shrieked at her altered body.
“Cheer up,” Peggy said. “At least you’ll have friends. And, we’ll help you study. With a body like that, I bet guys will be all over you. I had a football player for a boyfriend for a while, but I think I’m going to start dating nerds. They know how to treat a girl right.”
“No...nobody will want anything to do with me,” Sonya wept. “I’ll never have friends or anything else.”
“We will be your friends,” Lizzy insisted.
“Yeah - friends forever,” Shelly added.
“Really?” Sonya asked.
“Really,” Peggy replied, and gave her new flabby friend a warm embrace.
THE END
