The voting tournament to determine the next main character in my illustrated story series is in its final round. Today's choices are the winners of the semi-finals, Becky and Breanne. Both of our finalists are about athletes whose identities are reshaped as they gain weight, so we thought we'd help describe some of the differences between these stories.
Becky's weight gain coincides with her becoming nerdy, shy, and introverted, over the course of a few months. Her transition from athlete to nerd is initially difficult and requires a lot of readjustment on her part. The story will focus on Becky's journey to embrace her new interests, lifestyle, and friends.
Breanne experiences weight gain and height increase, which affect her relationship with others and her athleticism. She also will experience age progression, as her story will be measured in years. She'll focus on the changing expectations on her based on her size, including power dynamics in the realms of romance and sexuality. You can vote here. Voting closes at 11:59 CST at 7/29/2015.
Becky is a star track and field athlete, but when she unexpectedly loses a high-profile race, she spirals into a deep depression. Before she knows it, she's gaining weight, and her interests are shifting from running to video games. Will her new identity as an overweight nerd lead her to greater fulfillment?

Breanne:
A high school athlete and a tomboy, Breanne is comfortable with who she is. But as she gets older, she finds herself changing - she's getting bigger, taller, and more curvaceous, which changes how she's treated by others. What identity will Breanne have to build for herself going forwards?
